What Makes A Vietnamese Pork Sausage Sandwich Special?

Vietnamese pork sausage sandwich or bánh mì chả is a tasty treat consisting of a baguette with fillings like Vietnamese-style pork sausage and cinnamon pork pate, pork liver pate, Vietnamese mayonnaise, garlic soy sauce, pickles, condiments, and vegetables.

The baguette has a thin, crisp crust with soft, airy white crumbs. The pork sausage (called cha in Vietnamese) is made of pork and typically wrapped in banana leaves.

There are different kinds of pork sausage in Vietnam. In this bánh mì chả recipe, I use 2 kinds of pork sausage: one is the most common pork sausage (called chả lụa), and another one is cinnamon pork pate (called chả quế), a sausage flavored with powdered cinnamon, then fried.

In general, a Vietnamese sandwich is a fusion of Vietnamese and French cuisines. It is a very common food for breakfast in Vietnam. There is a wide range of Banh mi prices in the country, normally ranging from $1 to $5, depending on what version of Banh mi or where you buy it.
